Ajax Powder Cleanser with Bleach Review

Ajax powder cleanser with bleach disinfects, scours, rinses quickly and completely. It safely removes soap scum, dirt, and grime. Plus it works very well on porcelain sinks and bathtubs, ceramic tiles, and grout. It also cleans mortar, glass top stoves, pots, pans, griddles, and pressure cookers with ease.

On the patio, this cleanser powers away burnt on grease from grill racks, grates, and lids. It removes oily stains from concrete and wood as well.  They modernized this product for safety on today’s delicate yet shiny appliance and fixture surfaces. So it’s generally safe to use on chrome, porcelain, Formica (trademark of the Formica corporation), imitation marble, and enamel coatings.  With light scrubbing force, this Ajax dry cleanser is safe and smells like it’s disinfecting. It is cheap to buy at under $4 for the 28-ounce can.

Benefits, Features, Pros, and Advantages of Ajax Powder Cleanser with Bleach

Works its Way into Cracks and Nooks

Easily removes mildew from most ceramic tile grout and other “nitchy” places.  Just rub it in with a damp cloth or sponge. Then let it sit for a bit. And finally, scrub with the same cloth, brush, or Q-tip.

Removes Fingerprints on Painted Walls

We use this cleanser with bleach on tough stains like dirty hand prints on basement walls and floors. We do not recommend this though.  Why not?  Because this cleanser can strip away the paint as well as the dirt.  Still though, when all else fails, try this on your dirty walls.  But scrub with a gentle force.

Great Cookware Scrubbing Agent

Work well on grimy pots and pans. But though the label shouts, “scratch free,” we avoid routinely using Ajax on nonstick cookware.  These delicate coatings can  strip away, even with gentle cleansers like this one.

Ajax Powder Cleanser with Bleach Has a Subtle, Clean, Fresh Scent

Features a gentle, not too strong bleach citrus fragrance.  So you need not open windows or turn on exhaust fans while using in small spaces like a small bathroom.

Scent Fades Quickly

Plus, the scent does not linger. Soon after you rinse, its smell washes away too.

Cleans Soap Scum, Rust Stains, and Limescale

We most use Ajax in the bathroom for removing soap scum and hard water deposits. It works well on bathtub, sink, and the toilet when stubborn under-the-rim rust spots show up.

Works with Sponges, Rags, and Pads

We find that this cleaner works just as well when applied with a rag as with a sponge. We prefer a rag though, as rags tend to cost less than sponges.

Ajax Powder Cleanser with Bleach Gives Easy Yet Full Rinsing

Rinses away completely, and fairly quickly.  Sometimes though, you need an extra cupful or two of water to rinse it out completely.  Sometimes the grit accumulates in bath tubs and sinks. Not hard to remove with water however.

Easy to Find

Look for it in just about any grocery or home improvement store.

Low Cost

It’s a decent price. And you can often find larger cans of it at dollar stores and discount markets for next to nothing.

The Bleach Makes Ajax Powder Cleanser Clean Better

We like that they put a little chlorine bleach into this product. The bleach turns it into a good disinfectant as well as a great cleanser.

Less Scratchy Grit

The powder feels a bit finer than that found in cleansers of decades past. This is probably one step they took to make this scratch-free modern day version of the cleanser.

Disadvantages, Cons, Problems, Limitations, and Concerns with Ajax Powder Cleanser with Bleach

Powder Turns Blue when Moistened

This normally presents no problem. But it can leave a blue cast behind when cleaning grout, non sealed concrete, and other porous surfaces.  It’s not a very dark blue though.  But it can change the color of a bright white surface nonetheless.  Not sure why they’d design it to turn blue when you add water.

Avoid Mixing with Other Cleaners

This is a chemically active cleanser (bleach). It’s not just rough grit. So it can produce dangerous gasses if you mix it with ammonia or cleaners containing ammonia.  Thus be sure to use this product by itself. Do not use it in concert with any other cleaners.

Scratch Free, Almost

Ajax powder cleanser might scratch if you rub too hard. Be especially careful while cleaning stainless steel, copper, and nonstick pots and pans. Beforehand, test the surfaces first. Scrub these in hidden spots to see how much scratching will occur. Then rub softly but still with enough force to clean. Finally, watch for scratching while you scrub.

Ajax Powder Cleanser with Bleach Has No Sealing Lid

Removing the sticker seal from the top of the can exposes the shaker-top holes. But you cannot re seal Ajax cleanser powder without some sort of lid accessory not included with the can.  This makes it non child-safe and very easy to spill.

May Fade Clothes and Non Colorfast Surfaces

Spillage is of critical concern with this bleach-containing product, as it can discolor carpet or other fabrics.  So store this cleaner in a cabinet or on a shelf. Keep it well away from foot and toddler traffic.

Some Powder Caking Happens

Sometimes, the powder clumps into pieces too big to fit through the shaker top holes. But a resealable can would keep more moist air out. Then, this would help stop this caking. So to reduce clumping, store Ajax in a cool, dry place. Plus, keep it well away from spraying water while using.  Water droplets can get into the cleanser itself, and cause caking.

Our Rating for Ajax Powder Cleanser with Bleach

Ajax dry powder cleanser with bleach is a highly affordable yet top notch cleaning product.  So, we highly suggest it for an exemplary job of cleaning kitchens, bathrooms, patio, deck, and garages.  It has saved many a grill rack for us. And endurance for more than six decades proves its consistently fine performance. So we rate this cleanser at 99 out of 100.

Look for Ajax Bleach powder cleanser in the metallic-looking blue can with red, yellow, and white lettering. Find it at just about any grocery store or supermarket.
