We give the hard reset JBL Go 3 procedure here, to restore it to its default settings. Plus, a hard reset clears any earlier paired Bluetooth devices from the speaker’s memory. Erasing these stops this speaker from pairing to any nearby Bluetooth devices after the reset.
Further, you might hard reset to make it ready or sale or re-gifting, or to stop it from pairing with devices you no longer wish it to pair with whenever you turn it on.
Hard Reset JBL Go 3: Step by Step
1. Turn on the Speaker
First, press and hold the Power button until the status lamp on the right side lights up and the guitar strum sound plays.
To turn on the speaker. find and briefly press for a half second and then release the Power button, as shown in the last picture above.
Then, the status light comes on, as shown next.
2. Wait for the Power Up Guitar Sound to Complete
The speaker makes a rising electric guitar strum sound when it powers up. The speaker is ready for use after this sound finishes.
Now at this time, the Go 3 may or may not pair with a device, depending on whether there are any in-range Bluetooth devices that know about this speaker But whether paired or not, the hard reset works the same way, as we detail below.
3. Press the Volume UP and Bluetooth Buttons Together
Next, find the Bluetooth and UP Volume buttons. The BT button is on the right side panel, beside the Power button. We also find the Volume UP button on the top panel of the unit to the right. We highlighted both buttons with the blue arrows in the following picture.
The speaker then enters hard reset.
Then within ten to twenty seconds, the unit powers off after hard reset finishes, the falling guitar strum sounds, and after that, the status lamp goes dark, as shown next.
4. Check that the Hard Reset of the JBL Go 3 Did Indeed Work
Next, power on the speaker again, as described in step 1 above.
Note that after hard reset, our speaker came up in ready-to-pair mode, with the status lamp rapidly flashing white.
5. Done with Hard Reset JBL Go 3 !
Finally, the hard reset is now done. So you may now gift or sell the speaker, or pair it again with your favorite Bluetooth devices.
After hard reset, this device no longer automatically pairs with any previously paired Bluetooth device that happens to be in range and in Bluetooth pairing mode. So, to restore auto-pairing, you manually pair the Go 3 with a desired device. Then after that, any time that both this speaker, and that device have Bluetooth turned on, pairing would automatically take place again.
