How Long Does the JBL Flip 4 Battery Last

Answers the question: How long does the JBL Flip 4 battery last? The 3,000 mAh battery inside this speaker is a lithium ion polymer unit, that follows roughly guessable life cycle patterns as long as you avoid storing the speaker in extreme environments.

How Long Does the JBL Flip 4 Battery Last ?

As far as how long the battery will last per charge, you can get an approximate idea of how much more the JBL Flip 4 will play before needing a full charge, by looking at the battery meter lamps on the front button panel of the speaker.

When the speaker is ON, the meter lights show if the battery is on the verge of going dead. Now when the battery is full, all the lamps on the meter light up a solid white.  As the battery charge depletes, the lamps begin going out, one by one, starting first at the far right, and progressing left.  Then when the speaker gets very low, the last light on the battery gauge starts blinking red.

See the meter showing a sixty percent full battery in the next picture. Note the gauge, circled in green, with three of the five lamps lit.

Now when the speaker is new, and using a 1 amp USB charger, the time it takes to fully charge the JBL Flip 4  is about 3.5 hours.  And, the full battery should last for around twelve hours of play time before dying.

How Long Does the JBL Flip 4 Battery Last Over Time ?

Typically, these batteries gradually lose their ability to charge.  So a sign of a battery that is nearing the end of its useful life, is that it goes dead much faster than this, or takes too little or too much time to fully recharge. So if you juice up your speaker, but it only plays for under nine hours before going dead, its battery may be degrading, and unable to hold a full charge anymore.

Now this sort of battery accepts between 500 and 1,000 charge / discharge cycles before showing noticeable signs of charge degradation. So if you recharge your speaker once a week, you can expect its battery to last around ten years.  If you recharge it four times per week, then the battery would last around two and a half years.

Keep in mind though that environmental factors such as how warm or cold the area is where you keep the speaker, can impact these numbers.  So, an exact predictions of how long the JBL Flip 4 battery will last is probably not possible. But you can estimate with decent accuracy.
