How to Bass Boost Sony SRS XE200

Change how loud the bass is on the Sony SRS XE200, by turning on and off its bass boost mode. When ON, this mode makes the speaker vibrate much more. Plus it adds a low rumble quality to the playing program. So, for you boom lovers, here’s how to bass boost the Sony SRS XE200 speaker.

You can control bass boost on this speaker in a few ways.

    1. Use the LIVE button on the speaker itself.
    2. Work the bass switch in the Sony Music Center App.
    3. Make fine bass adjustments in the EQ section of the Music Center app.

We’ll cover all of these options below.

How to Bass Boost Sony SRS XE200: Use Buttons on the Speaker

By default, this speaker has bass boost mode ON when new or after a reset. So whenever you run this speaker, then the STAMINA  light is dark. This means that bass boost is active.

When the 200 is running, and this lamp is OFF, then bass boost mode is in effect.

Now when active, bass boost also adds a bit of treble to the audio output.

Turn bass boost mode OFF by pressing the BATT button. This deactivates bass boost and switches the speaker into STAMINA mode.  The STAMINA lamp then lights up white.

In addition to by way of the BATT button, you can also control bass boosting in Sony’s Music Center app.

1. Install the Music Center App

So first, download and install this app on your source Bluetooth device (phone, tablet, computer, or media player). We did this on a test iPad Air.

7. Bring Up the EQ (equalizer) Page

Tap the BASS / MID / TRE option on the Sound page. We highlight it in the last picture.

Touching this option brings up a three band graphic equalizer page.  Now by default, this EQ is on FLAT for all frequency bands.

But you can get maximum bass boost by moving these slider controls as follows.  For example, lower the other two frequency bands to minimum. But raise the BASS one to maximum.

When set this way, you get the highest amount of bass that the XE200 speaker is capable of producing. But be careful !

Warning

The drivers really thump when bass boost is active.  So use caution in how loudly you play the 200 with bass boost ON. This avoids damage to the speaker drivers. If the bass is crackling, tapping, or distorting, turn it down or readjust the EQ !

Conclusion

So we have now shown how to get the most boosted bass from your Sony SRS XE200 stereo column speaker.  Thus, please enjoy !
