Covers how to check battery life on the JBL Boombox Bluetooth speaker. This also tells how to know if the battery life is dropping as time passes.

How to Check JBL Boombox Battery Life: Current Charge

1. First, Turn ON the Speaker

You won’t be able to read battery charge status unless the speaker is ON.

To switch on the speaker, press and release the Power button.

Then, the lamp inside the Power button should come on. Also the speaker should make its startup sound.  But if it does not, then the battery could be dead.  In this case, fully charge the speaker and try again.

But as long as there’s some juice in the battery, the speaker should power up.  When it does, move on to the next step.

2. Look at the Battery Status Meter

Note that this speaker has a battery gauge to let you know exactly how much charge remains.  By reading this, you can tell if the battery is on the verge of going dead. Now when the battery is full, all five of the LEDs in the gauge glow a steady white.  As the battery depletes, the lamps start to go out one by one. This progression starts at the far right, and moves left.  Then when the speaker gets critically low, the last LED begins flashing red.

See the gauge showing a full battery in the next picture.

How to Check JBL Boombox Battery Life: Overall Battery Condition

A new speaker charges fully in about 6.5 hours.

And, the fully charged battery should last for around twenty-four hours of play time per charge. But a sign of a bad battery, is that it goes dead much faster than this. Or it takes too little or too much time to fully charge. Now the speaker may play for far below twenty hours before shutting off after a full charge. If that is the case, then its battery may be failing.

Furthermore, the speaker may take longer than seven hours to recharge. If so, this could also mean a weakening battery.  Also, the charger might not be strong enough to recharge the speaker in the spec time.

Finally, slow charging can happen because your charger is faulty.  So check charger voltage output while charging.  This should be twenty volts.  If not, then replace the charger.
