When you connect your Gosund Mini Smart Plug to Alexa, you get many more features than when you just connect the plug to the Gosund app. Indeed you get the ability to turn the plug on and off with voice commands if you also have an Alexa speaker.
Plus, you get advanced scheduling features, including Alexa routines such as to have the plug come on at sunset and go off at sunrise. So if you have Alexa in your home or business, and you also have Gosund smart plugs, then we suggest that you set these up on Alexa so you can enjoy the many added conveniences.
How to Connect Gosund Mini Smart Plug to Alexa: Prerequisites
- We assume here that you’ve already set up your Gosund Mini Plug in the Gosund app. If not, please do so at this time. See our Gosund Mini WiFi Outlet Setup Instructions post for detailed instructions on how to do that. Note that Alexa will not discover your Gosund plug unless you first set up the plug in the Gosund app.
- Install the Alexa app on your phone or tablet.
- Then create an Amazon account if you haven’t done so already.
- Run the Alexa app.
- Then, log into your Amazon account in the app.
- Be sure your Gosund plug is connected to a working AC outlet, and is correctly linked to the same WiFi network that you’re Alexa device(s) is on.
- Also, the Action button on the mini plug should be dark (no flashing). If it glows a steady red, this means that the plug is switched on. In this case, press and release the Action button to switch the mini plug to the OFF position. If it flashes red or blue, this means that your plug is not properly connected to your home WiFi network. If you see this, run through the plug’s setup procedure as described in step one above.
