Here we describe how to hard reset the JBL Boombox 2 portable speaker. This restores the unit to its default hard settings. It also erases any earlier paired Bluetooth devices from memory, and stops this speaker from pairing to any nearby active devices that happen to be in range. Also, you hard might reset the speaker to get it ready for sale or re gifting. So learn how to do this in the following paragraphs.
How to Hard Reset the JBL Boombox 2
1. Turn on the Boombox 2 Speaker
When the unit is off, all buttons are dark, including the Power button, as shown next.
Then, press and release the Power button. That button should right away light up as we see next. Find the Power button, as we see in the last picture above. It’s on the top, just left of center on the speaker.
Next, the Power button lights up.
Now in our case, since we’ve paired this Boombox with a tablet before, it automatically pairs with it now, as the two are in range of each other.
We know that because the Bluetooth button glows solid white, rather than blinking.
2. Wait for the Power Up Sound
The speaker plays a rising electric guitar strum when it powers up. The Boombox 2 is ready to hard reset once this sound ends.
Now If your Boombox 2 pairs with an nearby device, you’ll also hear the three rising single guitar notes a few seconds after the startup cord. Nonetheless, whether or not the speaker pairs with a Bluetooth device does not change how you reset this speaker. In either case, how you hard reset the JBL Boombox 2 is the same, as we explain next.
3. Press the Volume UP and Play-Pause Buttons Together
See the next picture to find the Pause Play and UP Volume buttons.
The Boombox 2 then enters hard reset mode, as we show in the next picture.
Note that both the Power and Bluetooth buttons light up, along with the oval ring around them, for a couple seconds, as the Boombox 2 resets. See this in the next picture.
Then after a short pause, the unit shuts off. All the lights go out, and it makes the power-down guitar sound.
4. Next, Check that Hard Resetting Did Indeed Happen
Next, power on the speaker again, as described in step 1 above. In short, press and release the Power button.
Now this time, after hard reset, the speaker immediately comes up in Bluetooth pairing mode, as pictured next.
Note that we did not press the Bluetooth button first to get into this mode. Why not? Because after reset, the speaker automatically enters discovery mode. Note that the Bluetooth button fast pulses to denote this. We expect it not to auto pair to anything after a hard reset.
5. Done with How to Hard Reset JBL Boombox 2 !
Finally, the hard reset of the JBL Boombox 2 speaker is complete. So you may now pack it up for sale, or pair it again with your favorite wireless devices.
Again, this speaker will no longer automatically pair with any previously linked in-range Bluetooth device that is in pairing mode. So, to restore this auto pairing, you’ll need to forget the previously paired Boombox 2 listed in the Bluetooth devices section of your source device settings.
Once you do that, then manually pair the speaker with that device again if you so desire. Finally after that, any time that both speaker and that device have Bluetooth active, pairing with automatically happen once again.
