How to Hard Reset JBL Flip 6

Shows how to hard reset the JBL Flip 6 Bluetooth speaker to return it to default hard settings.  Hard resetting erases any prior paired Bluetooth devices from its memory.  Deleting these stops it from connecting to any nearby Bluetooth devices after the hard reset.  Also, do this to get it ready for sale or re gifting, or to fix pairing issues.  Or, just do it to stop the 6 from linking with devices you no longer have any interest in.

How to Hard Reset JBL Flip 6: Step by Step

1. Turn on the JBL Flip 6

Press and hold the Power button until it lights up.

Then, the Power button then lights up along with the battery power scale.

Here, since we’ve paired the speaker with Bluetooth devices before this, it does not enter Bluetooth pairing mode.  In fact, it connects with an iPad Air that we have nearby.  We know that because the Bluetooth button glows a steady white, rather than fast blinking.

2. Wait for the Power Up Sound

The JBL Flip 6 makes a rising rock guitar strum when it comes on. It is then ready for use.

3. Press the Volume UP and Play-Pause Buttons Together to Start the Hard Reset

See the next picture to find the Play-Pause and UP Volume buttons.

The Flip 6 then enters hard reset. Note that both the Bluetooth and Power buttons light up gray white for a couple seconds.

Then after a brief pause, the speaker shuts off.  All the lights go out, and it makes the power-down guitar sound.

4. Check that Hard Reset of the JBL Flip 6 Worked

Next, power on the speaker again, as detailed in step 1 above.

Now, the speaker comes up in pairing mode. Note that the Bluetooth button blinks white to denote this.  When this button flashes, this means that the unit has no pairing.  Indeed, we expect it not to auto pair to anything after a hard reset.

5. Done with How to Hard Reset JBL Flip 6 !

Hard resetting is now complete.  You may now pack up the Flip 6 for sale, or pair it again with your favorite BT devices.  The speaker will no longer automatically connect with any earlier paired in-range device.  So to restore automatic BT pairing, manually pair the Flip 6 with a tablet or phone.  Then, any time that both speaker and that device have Bluetooth activated, pairing with automatically occur once more.
