How to Know if JBL Go 3 Speaker is Fully Charged

Here, we explain how to know if the JBL Go 3 speaker is fully charged. That way you get maximum playing time from it when you take it outside. But though the unit has no battery gauge per se, you can still tell if the battery is at full charge by observing the speaker status lamp as it recharges.  Unfortunately though, we know of no way to determine if the battery actually has full charge without using a charging adapter and USB-C cable.

Now the Go 3 speaker has a single LED on the right side panel, as we display in the following pictures.  This shows battery status, whether it’s draining or charging, or whether it’s critically low or not when discharging.

But this lamp does not show charging progress. E.g. How full the battery is at a given time while charging. Nor does it show how much power percentage remains in the battery when discharging.  But it does change color when the battery reaches near-dead state.

How to Know if JBL Go 3 Speaker is Fully Charged: Step by Step

1. When the Battery Indicator Lamp is OFF

When you power down the speaker with no charger supplying power, this lamp, that also doubles as a pilot light, is dark.  Also, with the charger is feeding the speaker, this LED is also dark when the battery reaches full charge. See this next.

2. The Charging Indicator Shows Battery Recharging Progress

The status lamp lights up red (no flashing) while the speaker charges, as we see in the next photo.  Here, the glowing light is the only visual means to know that charging is going on.  Indeed, the battery is not yet full as long as this lamp glows red when charging.

3. Check Battery Status Using an AC Adapter

You can tell if the speaker has full charge by connecting an AC adapter to it, and watching the status lamp.  With the speaker not running, If the lamp comes on red, and then goes out again within a minute or so, this is a good indication that the Go 3 speaker is full.
