Shows how to pair Sony speaker SRS-XB41 Extra Bass wireless model with typical source devices. So these include practically all tablets and phones of the Apple and Android platforms.
Start with your SRS-XB41 OFF and the power button dark. Then run through these directions to pair it to your source BT mobile device. We use here an iPad Air tablet for this demo.
Firstly, press the Home button to reveal the smart device’s Home screen.
So we find ours on the second page of the Home screen.
Thirdly, touch the Settings app icon.
The smart device then shows the first page of its settings.
Then the Bluetooth Settings screen displays as follows. Note that our Bluetooth is ON here. But since our speaker is currently OFF, it cannot therefore be in Bluetooth pairing mode. So it does not appear in the Other Devices list. Also, we don’t see it in the My Devices list. Why? Because we’ve never linked this speaker with our mobile device before.
Additionally, turn on the XB41 by quickly pressing and releasing its Power button.
The speaker then powers up, and its status lamp glows white, as we see in the next picture.
But since our iPad does not know about this speaker, the SRS-XB41 will not pair with it automatically.
So to see your speaker on your device, place it into Bluetooth discovery / pairing mode. To do that, press the Pairing button. Then release it after a quarter second.
Note that this button also serves as the Power button on the XB41.
Then the speaker emits a rising pitch set of beeps. It also announces in a female voice, “Bluetooth pairing.” Furthermore, the Bluetooth Status lamp begins blinking rapidly.
See the screen shot next. We found our XB41, as pointed at by the arrow.
Tap the listed speaker in the Other Devices list.
Your mobile device then pairs with this Sony speaker.
E.g. The the mobile device’s Bluetooth Settings screen might then change to look something like the following. Note the now-connected SRS-XB41 entry in the My Devices list.
At last, we have now successfully paired the XB41 BT speaker with a common mobile tablet device.
