The Sony SRS XE200 speaker showing as Connected on iPadOS.
Shows how to pair the Sony SRS XE200 portable wireless speaker to common mobile devices. So these include the Apple line of device like the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. Plus, this routine also works for Android base devices as well. These include Samsung and LG phones, as well as Amazon Fire tablets.
With your SRS XE200 powered OFF with the power button dark, run through these directions to pair to it. We use an iPad Air tablet here to show how to do this.
Firstly, press the Home button to reveal the smart device’s Home screen.
So we find ours on the second page of the Home screen.
Thirdly, touch the Settings app icon.
The smart device then shows the first page of its settings.
So our Bluetooth Settings screen displays as follows. Note that Bluetooth is ON here. But Sony SRS XE200 is currently OFF. Therefore it cannot be in Bluetooth discovery mode. Thus it does not show up in the Bluetooth devices list. Also, we don’t see it since we’ve never paired this speaker with our mobile device before.
So turn on the speaker by quickly pressing its Power-Pairing button.
The unit then powers up. So its Power-Pairing button glows white.
But our tablet does not know about this speaker. So the SRS XE200 will not pair with it automatically.
Then to see the XE200 on your device, place it into Bluetooth discovery / pairing mode. Thus to accomplish that, press the Pairing button. Then release it when you hear the rising pitch beep sequence. Plus the speaker also announces, “Bluetooth pairing,” in a lady’s voice. Find the Pairing button in the buttons panel, second one down from the top, just below the Power button.
Also the Bluetooth Status lamp begins flashing blue, in the pulse-pulse-pause-pulse-pulse-pause pattern.
So we find our XE200 in the Other Devices list on our tablet.
Then tap the listed speaker in the discovered devices list.
Your source device should pair with the speaker.
Thus the the mobile device’s Bluetooth Settings screen might then change to look something like the following. Note the now-connected SRS XE200 entry.
