How to tell if Wonderboom 2 is charging? This unit with built in hanger loop has a two-color LED lamp on its top, in the Power button, as we show in the pictures next. This light not only gives speaker power OFF ON status. But it also tells battery level (whether it’s near dead or not) as well as charging status. To see if the Wonderboom 2 is charging, check this light. We explain how to read it next.
Of course, you know that this speaker is NOT charging without a charging cable.
Whether this unit is OFF or ON, you can tell if tWonderboom 2 is charging if it is indeed connected to a charger, the Power lamp glows white, and slowly brightening and dimming in a pulsating pattern.
When not charging, this light glows steady red when the battery runs almost entirely out of power. It glows solid white otherwise when the speaker is ON. The lamp is OFF when the speaker is OFF and not connected to a charger supply.
Should the Wonderboom 2 power lamp glow steady red with the power ON, then the speaker is not charging. So you might check that your USB cable, adapter charger, and power source are working. Try a fresh USB adapter or another charging cable. This light should blink white to know for sure that the unit is charging.
Now, this speaker does not warm very much as it charges. But you can feel charger adapter to check charging in progress. If the charger heats a bit, then it is delivering some current to the speaker. Moderate charger heating is a decent way to tell if the Wonderboom 2 is charging.
As charging wraps up, the status LED keeps flashing white. But this speaker gives no more of a detailed reading of just how far along its recharging is. At least, not via the top panel lights. The Power lamp just shows that charging is indeed going on. See the white glowing lamp in the last picture, pointed at by the green arrow.
The battery charge cycle completes when the Power LED changes from pulsating white to either OFF or solid.
Even with the charger cord still plugged in, and when the speaker is powered down, this lamp stops glowing entirely when the internal battery is full, as shown next. The Wonderboom 2 no longer recharges when the battery reaches full charge condition.
If the power LED glows solid white as we see above, this could mean that it did indeed charge, particularly if the unit is dead or near dead before you plug it in.
But with the USB cable disconnected, we cannot know just by reading the power LED, just how much this speaker actually recharged, only that it did charge some. It likely did charge to full though, as long as we waited until the light stopped blinking before unplugging the charger. You can hear how full the battery is though. With the speaker ON, press and release both volume buttons at the same time. If you hear four rising note plunks, then it is near fully recharged. Fewer notes means that it is NOT fully charged.
