We explain how to turn on the Sony SRS XB32 wireless speaker here. Now most Bluetooth speakers including this one, have a Power button that Sony prominently places on the unit so it’s easy to find. Indeed, this speaker is no exception to this, as we find its Power button on the top of the SRS XB32, as we see next.
There’s also the Power lamp that lights up steady white when you power up the 32, as we picture next.
Then we also have the Bluetooth status lamp, just to the left of the Power light, that begins flashing or glowing blue when the speaker powers up, as we point out below.
Both these lamps are dark when the SRS XB32 is OFF.
How to Turn On Sony SRS XB32
To power up the SRS XB32, press the Power button. Then release after a quarter second or so. Also, you needn’t hold it in for very long for the unit to see your press and then turn itself on.
When the speaker comes on, the Bluetooth status lamp starts blinking or glowing, and the unit may or may not make a beep sound. It will sound a couple beeps if it pairs to a nearby Bluetooth device. But if it connects with nothing, then it makes no sound.
Now if pressing the Power button does not turn on the XB32, or if the CHARGE light blinks orange, it could be that you need to charge your speaker.
So if the unit won’t come on, try connecting a USB charger to it. No worries though, because you can indeed play the speaker as it charges without impacting the recharge time very much.
Finally, with a charger supplying power, this speaker should always power on when you click the Power button. If not, then the unit may not be receiving any juice from the AC adapter. So check that the outlet that power supply plugs into is hot, that the adapter works, that the cable between it and the SRS XB32 is not damaged, and that the charger plug is fully seated in the speaker’s micro USB port.
But if after all these checks the speaker still does not turn on, then the unit itself may be faulty. So in that case, get a new one.
