Here we give JBL Boombox 2 factory reset directions. This restores the unit to its default settings. It also erases any earlier paired Bluetooth devices from memory, and stops this speaker from pairing to any nearby active devices that happen to be in range. Also, you might factory reset the speaker to clear up pairing problems or to get it ready for sale or re gifting. So learn how to do this in the following paragraphs.
JBL Boombox 2 Factory Reset, Step by Step Routine
1. Turn On the Speaker
When the unit is off, all buttons are dark, including the Power button, as shown next.
Then, press and release the Power button. That button should right away light up as we see in the following pictures. Find the Power button in the last picture above.
Next, the Power button lights up. In this case, since we’ve paired this Boombox with a tablet before, it automatically pairs with it now, as the two are in range of each other. We know that because the Bluetooth button glows solid white, rather than blinking.
2. Wait for the Power Up Sound
The speaker plays a rising electric guitar strum when it powers up. The Boombox 2 is ready to factory reset once this sound ends.
Now If your Boombox 2 pairs with an nearby device, you’ll also hear the three rising single guitar notes a few seconds after the startup cord. Nonetheless, whether or not the speaker pairs with a Bluetooth device does not change how you factory reset the unit.
3. Press the Volume UP and Play-Pause Buttons Together
See the next picture to find the Pause Play and UP Volume buttons.
The Boombox 2 then enters factory reset mode, as shown in the next picture.
Note that both the Power and Bluetooth buttons light up, along with the oval ring around them, for a couple seconds, as the Boombox 2 factory resets. See this in the next picture.
Then after a short pause, the unit turns off. All the lights go off, and it makes the power-down guitar sound.
4. Next, Check that Factory Reset Did Indeed Happen
Next, power on the speaker again, as described in step 1 above. In short, press and release the Power button.
Now this time, after factory reset, the speaker immediately comes up in Bluetooth pairing mode. The Pairing button flashes to indicate this, as we see next.
Note that we did not press the Bluetooth Pairing button first to get into this mode. Why not? Because after factory reset, the speaker automatically enters discovery mode. Note that this button fast pulses to denote this. Indeed, we expect it not to auto pair to anything after a factory reset.
5. Done with JBL Boombox 2 Factory Reset !
Finally, the factory reset is complete. So you may now pack the speaker for sale, or pair it again with your favorite wireless devices.
Again, this speaker will no longer automatically pair with any previously linked in-range Bluetooth device that is in pairing mode. So, to restore this auto pairing, you’ll need to forget the previously paired Boombox 2 listed in the Bluetooth devices section of your source device settings.
Once you do that, then manually pair the speaker with that device again if you so desire. Finally after that, any time that both speaker and that device have Bluetooth active, pairing with automatically happen once again.
