JBL Boombox 2 PartyBoost Button Explained

The JBL Boombox 2 has a button on top which is  the PartyBoost button.  Here, we explain the function of this (A.K.A Infinity) button, what it does, and how to use it.

In short, this button lets you join from two to over a hundred PartyBoost compatible speakers together.  This way, they all play the same program.  Thus, you can fill a much bigger party area with sound than you can with just one speaker.  Further, you can place the units as far apart as is common for Bluetooth speakers. So the area you can cover with them is large enough for most small to medium size parties.

JBL Boombox 2 PartyBoost Button Details

Use the PartyBoost button to connect two or more JBL PartyBoost compatible speakers together. This is “party mode”, and the Boombox 2 supports it. Thus, when you sync them in this way, they all play the same program without any echoes or delays.  PartyBoost mode is like Amazon’s multi room music groups.  That is, all speakers that join in play the same audio at the same time.

Then, with each speaker running, you press the PartyBoost button on each speaker to add to the group.

The PartyBoost button appears like an infinity symbol.

JBL Boombox 2 PartyBoost Button: How to Use

Note that you can mix and match any JBL speakers in this joined group. So long as they all support the PartyBoost protocol.

Most of the latest JBL speakers support PartyBoost. These include the later models from the Flip, Charge, Xtreme, and Boombox series. The PartyBoost button usage follows.

    1. Place all speakers within a few feet of each other.
    2. Power up and pair the first (master) speaker to your Bluetooth source device.
    3. Next, power up each additional (slave) BT speaker that you wish to sync with the master.
    4. Press and release the PartyBoost button on the master speaker. The oval ring around the buttons on the Boombox 2 should then light up.
    5. Then press and release the PartyBoost button on each slave speaker in turn.  Again, this button or oval ring will start glowing on each speaker, depending on speaker model.
    6. Now when you play something on your source device, you will hear it on all speakers in the group.
    7. Finally, you can break the connection between speakers as follows. Press and release the Infinity button on the “master” speaker. Or, if you want to keep the group, but only remove certain slaves, then just turn off those speakers. The rest of the group will still continue playing.
