Front of the JBL Charge 2 Plus speaker.
Covers the JBL Charge 2 Plus firmware update directions. However, we know of no official way to upgrade the software on this particular model. Indeed we find no firmware downloads for this unit on the JBL web site. Plus, we see no details for this in the included manuals.
So it’s likely that JBL thinks that the Charge 2 Plus works sufficiently well with the original firmware. Thus they do not offer a (perhaps) confusing and complicated update procedure for this older unit.
Moreover, in our tests, the Charge 2 Plus is still highly reliable. E.g. We find no bugs, lost connections, distortion, or any other unwanted behaviors. Therefore a JBL Charge 2 Plus firmware update is likely not necessary. Indeed, as far as we can tell, updating is impossible for the average owner.
Finally, a no-update option makes this speaker even easier to use. And it’s nice to see a device like this one that works well, right out of the box. So this one will likely never need updates to fix problems. So if that’s the sort of hassle-free operation you want, then the Charge 2 Plus is for you. It’s a virtually zero-service unit. And the only maintenance it needs is occasional cleaning and to exercise the battery now and then.
