All lamps glowing on the JBL Charge 2 Plus battery indicator meter.
The JBL Charge 2 Plus speaker charging indicator is a group of LEDs on the top, as we show below. These display battery fullness and charging status. This meter shows charging progress, and how full the battery is when not recharging.
When you power down the speaker with no charger connected, no lamps light up. The lamps also all show dark when the charger IS present. But the battery is full.
There are five lamps that light in succession as the speaker battery charging advances, as shown in the next picture.
The unit is charging when you see one of these lamps blinking white. When the battery is completely dead, the light on the far right blinks white while charging. Then as charging continues, that lamp stops flashing, and assumes a steady white glow. Then, the next lamp to the left starts blinking white as the battery fills.
Note though, that you may see the first lamp (far right) blink red. This does not mean that charging is proceeding. Instead, it means that the battery is quite low, nearly dead. So you should recharge it when convenient. It only flashes red when the battery is almost dead and AC power is not yet flowing. When you connect power though, this red flashing light begins blinking white. Remember. This light never flashes red while charging.
As charging advances, more of the LEDs on the Charging Indicator light solid. That is, the flashing LED moves further along, until that blinking reaches the last lamp.
Battery charging is about done when all but the last of the battery status lights light solid. The last one continues to blink for several minutes. Again, you know that charging is happening if one of the battery charge level lamps is flashing white.
The last picture above shows the Bluetooth speaker just before completing a full charge cycle. Note that all the lamps in the battery status meter are glowing. However, the last one continues to blink.
The battery recharge cycle finishes when all battery status indicator lights turn off. Thus, the battery is no longer charging when all lamps are OFF. Even with the AC charger still connected, no lamp glows when battery is full.
When you disconnect the charger, what was the charging indicator becomes the battery level indicator. The more lights that glow on it, the fuller the battery. The fewer that glow, the less run time remains. These lamps show battery status for a brief time after you power up. Plus they light when you press any of the buttons. To save power, these lamps go dark after some seconds. So to see the battery charge remaining indication once more, just press the volume UP or DOWN buttons.
Finally, when the battery reaches critically low levels, you should see the following. The rightmost lamp in the Charging Indicator gauge flashes red whenever the unit is ON.
Unfortunately, the JBL Portable app does not support this speaker. So you won’t be able to read its Charging Indicator there.
