Shows the JBL Charge 2 Plus speaker reset procedure. Doing this returns this unit to default out-of-box settings. Resetting also wipes away any prior connected BT devices from its memory. Thus, reset stops the speaker from pairing to any nearby devices afterwards, until you manually pair them again.
Also, you might reset to prepare this speaker for sale or re gifting. Or, reset to stop it from auto pairing with devices you have no interest in.
Press and hold the Power button until that button lights up and the electronic blip sound plays.
The Power button appears in the next picture, as we point out there with the green arrow. It’s the first button on the left as you face the speaker’s buttons panel.
Then the Power button lights up.
The speaker then makes a quick low-to-high tone blip sound as it boots. It is then ready for reset once this little sound finishes.
Now it may or may not pair with a device automatically. This is because it depends on whether there are any in-range BT devices that know about this speaker. But whether it pairs or not, reset works the same way.
Find the Phone and UP Volume (+) buttons. The Phone button is the one that looks like, … what else, a telephone receiver. It is the last button on the right in the buttons panel. The Volume UP (+) button is just right of center in the buttons panel.
The unit then enters reset. All lamps on it including the Pairing, and battery indicator gauge light momentarily. Then all goes dark as the reset finishes.
Then after a short pause, the speaker turns OFF. Specifically, the Power lamp goes dark, and the unit makes the power-down high-low tone blip sound.
Next, power on the speaker again, as we detail in step 1 above.
Note that after reset, this speaker comes up in Bluetooth discovery mode, making the decreasing volume beep-beep-beep-beep sound.
When the Bluetooth button blinks white, the speaker has no connection. Indeed, we expect it would NOT pair to anything after reset, even in-range devices.
The reset routine is now complete. So you may safely sell or gift the speaker, or pair it again with your favorite wireless devices.
After reset, the speaker no longer automatically connects with any device automatically. Thus, to restore auto pairing, you would first manually pair the speaker with a source device. Then, any time that both speaker and that device have Bluetooth turned on, pairing would automatically happen again.
