JBL Charge 3 Low Frequency Mode

You can change the bass response of the JBL Charge 3, by turning on and off its low frequency mode. In fact, when activated, this mode makes the passive bass radiators vibrate a lot more. This also adds a rumble quality to the playing program.  But you may wish to switch OFF low frequency mode (LFM) when playing the speaker loudly.  This helps cut bass distortion and also extends battery life.

How to Turn Off JBL Charge 3 Low Frequency Mode

First, by default, the JBL Charge 3 has LFM turned ON by default right after a reset.  LFM adds a bit of extra treble and lots of extra bass, as compared to when this feature is OFF.

You can turn low frequency mode OFF by pressing and holding in the Volume Down (-) and Bluetooth buttons. Hold in for about ten seconds.  Release when some of the battery gauge lights come on again.  See this in the next picture.

Find the buttons on the top of the speaker, as shown in the picture above.

Finally, to turn LFM back on again, press and hold the Volume Down and Bluetooth buttons at the same time.  Hold them in until the battery gauge lights again.  Finally, release them.  When the battery gauge lights, the low frequency mode has resumed once again.
