You can adjust the low frequency response of the JBL Charge 4, by turning on and off its bass boost mode. Now when ON, bass boost makes the passive radiators at each end of this speaker vibrate a lot more. Plus it adds a decidedly “thumpy” quality to the content playing. But when OFF, you get a more flat sounding, less bassy response.
JBL Charge 4 Bass Boost, Step by Step
Firstly, by default, this BT speaker has bass boost mode switched ON. This mode adds a bit of extra treble and quite a bit of extra bass to the audio output.

JBL Charge 4 Bass Boost Switching OFF
You can turn this bass boost mode off by pressing and holding in the Volume Down (-) and Pairing buttons for about ten seconds. The Volume Down button is second button in from the left, just to the right of the Connect+ button. The Pairing button is in the little island in the center top of the speaker, to the right of the Power button.
Hold the buttons in until the oval ring around the Power and Pairing buttons up, as shown in the next picture.

How to Switch JBL Charge 4 Bass Boost Mode ON
To turn bass boost back on, again, press and hold the Volume Down and Pairing buttons in until the oval button ring lights up again. Release them when you see that. Then, when the ring goes off, bass boost mode is in effect once more.
