Adjust the low frequency response of the JBL Charge 4, by turning on and off its bass boost mode. Now when ON, bass boost makes the passive radiators at each end of this speaker vibrate a lot more. Furthermore, it adds a decidedly “thumpy” quality to the content playing. But when OFF, you get a more flat sounding, less bass response.

Firstly, by default, this BT speaker has bass boost mode ON. So this mode adds a bit of extra treble and quite a bit of extra bass to the audio output.

How to Switch Bass Boost OFF
Turn bass boost off by pressing and holding in the Volume Down (-) and Pairing buttons. Then hold these for about ten seconds. The Volume Down button is second button in from the left, just to the right of the Connect+ button. The Pairing button is in the little island in the center top of the speaker. It’s to the right of the Power button.
Hold the buttons in until the oval ring around the Power and Pairing buttons up.

How to Switch Bass Boost ON
So to turn bass boost back on, again, press and hold the Volume Down and Pairing buttons. Then release them when the oval button ring lights up again. Then, when the ring goes off, bass boost mode is in effect once more.
