How Long it Plays Per Full Charge

On a complete charge, the Charge 5 JBL speaker can play for up to twenty (20) hours, due to its 7,500 MaH, 27 WaH, 3.6 volt lithium ion polymer battery.  But when you play it loudly, with added bass especially, you will see somewhat shorter party music playing power.  We’ve seen this speaker run dead in seventeen hours when played at higher volumes. So to get the longest play time from it, power saving is crucial.  To cut the load on the battery, just play it only as loudly as you need to, to hear it well throughout your listening space. It also helps to cut the bass when you don’t need it.

The Play Time Gets Smaller as the JBL Charge 5 Ages

If you own this power bank speaker for around three to five years, you may start noticing that the time it plays from a single charge shortens as the speaker grows older.  This is normal for devices like this one, that have lithium ion batteries.

But by exercising the battery, you can slow this energy storage fall off.

To exercise the JBL Charge 5, run the battery dead and charge it again every three to six months when not in use.

Also, we suggest that you not leave the speaker plugged into a charger once it has reached a full charge.  Thus right after the charging lamps completely go out, unplug the speaker as soon as you can, to avoid the risk of overcharging it and damaging the battery.
