The red light glowing on the JBL Clip 4 speaker.
You charge the Clip 4 via the USB-C charge port. And to get the quickest charge time, use a low to medium current USB charger. Details follow.
According to the specs, the time it takes to charge the JBL Clip 4 is three hours (3.0 hours). This assumes that you’re using a 5 volt, 500 milliamp, 2.5 watt charger or better.
On a complete charge, the JBL Clip 4 can play for up to ten (10) hours. This is thanks to its 3.885 watt-hour lithium polymer battery. But when you play it loudly, especially with extra bass, you will see somewhat shorter playing time. We’ve seen this Bluetooth speaker run dead in around seven hours at louder volumes. So to get the longest play time, power saving is key. Just play it only as loudly as you need to, to hear it well throughout your listening space.
Now perhaps you own this speaker over a few to several years. So maybe you notice that the time it plays from a single charge is shrinking. This is normal for devices like this one, that rely on lithium ion polymer batteries.
But by exercising the battery, you can slow this charge capacity degradation.
To exercise the JBL Clip 4, run the battery dead and charge it again every three to six months.
Also, we advise that you avoid leaving the speaker plugged into a charger once it reaches full charge. Right after the charging lamp shuts off, disconnect the speaker as soon as you can. This avoids potential overcharging and damage to the battery.
