JBL Speaker Party Mode

Gives instructions on using JBL Speaker Party Mode. We explain the function of this feature here, detailing what it does and how to use it.

In summary, party mode allows you to join from two to over a hundred compatible speakers together. This way, they all play the same audio.  Therefore, you can fill a much bigger party area with sound than you can with just one speaker.  Further, you may place them as far apart as is typical for Bluetooth distances. So the area that party mode can cover is large enough for most common house parties.

JBL Speaker Party Mode: Intro

Use party mode to connect two or more JBL PartyBoost compatible speakers together, in “party mode”. Thus, when synced in this way, they all play the same stream without any echoes or delays.  This mode is like Amazon’s multi room music groups on Alexa speakers.  That is, all speakers that join in play the same audio, in sync with each other.

Then, with each speaker running, press the PartyBoost button on each one you’re adding to the group.

This button resembles an infinity symbol. Thus its name.

JBL Speaker Party Mode: Step by Step

Note that you can mix and match any combination of JBL Speakers in this group. They only requirement is that they all support the PartyBoost protocol.  This is not much of a problem though.  Indeed the latest speakers in the Flip, Charge, Xtreme, and Boombox lines work in party mode.

1. Place all speakers within a few feet of each other.
2. Power up and pair the first (master) JBL Speaker to your Bluetooth source device.
3. Next, power up each additional (slave) speaker that you wish to join with the master.
4. Press and release the PartyBoost button on the master JBL Speaker. The oval ring around the buttons should then light up.
5. Then press and release the PartyBoost button on each slave speaker in turn.  Again, this button or oval ring will illuminate on each speaker.
6. Now when you play something on your Bluetooth source device, you will hear it on all linked speakers.
7. Finally, you can end the connection between the speakers by pressing and releasing the PartyBoost button on the “master” JBL Speaker. You can also, without terminating the entire group, remove one or more slave speakers from it if you so desire.  Do this by simply turning off the speaker you wish to take out of the group.
8. JBL Speaker Party Mode is now active.
