We describe here the US version of the AC wall adapter for the Logitech Squeezebox Boom internet radio. It has removable but non retractable AC prongs and a six-foot long cord. Plus, its larger size and weightier feel hints of a “heavy duty” class of power supply. The square shape has thin width that fits into a power strip for “wall wart” supplies without blocking nearby outlets. Note though, that this adapter will block three outlets in a “standard” power strip.
Yet it silently delivers about 30 watts of energy to the Boom. Plus, it offers decent voltage regulation. This allows the radio to play deep, driving bass and dynamic range. Advantages of this supply include….
-
- This is no cheapo power adapter.
- Appears well built.
- Runs with very little heating even at higher output volume.
- Gives off little if any readable RFI and EMI noise.
- In fact, there’s a large ferrite bead on the cable, just inches away from the power supply. This bead further lowers any RF noise.
