Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaner Review

The SC Johnson company bought the rights to manufacture this Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaner product from the Dow Chemical company in the late 1990s.

But the great performance of this tub, shower, and sink cleaner did not suffer.   I’ve used various versions of Scrubbing Bubbles for over twenty years, and found it to work wonders on removing tough soap scum, hard water and rust stains, and pot marks from my kitchen and bathroom sinks.  It leaves behind a fresh scent that shouts “very clean” to anyone walking into the bathroom.

Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaner Benefits, Pros, Features, and Advantages

Buy Most Anywhere

We never have trouble finding this mainstream bathroom cleaner. Walmart has it all the time, along with Giant Eagle, Hometown Market, Cub Foods, Sam’s Club, Lowe’s, and other major grocery stores.

Sprays Upside Down

Apply while holding the can at any angle, including up side down.  This is a marked improvement over earlier versions of this product.  They required you to keep the can upright and slightly tilted.

Cleans Well the First Time

Rarely must you apply this aerosol cleaner a second time.  Why not?  Because it almost always removes even the toughest soils in the bathroom after the first application.

Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaner Makes Bathroom Cleaning Easy

Once this product softens the grub in the tub, simple wiping with a damp cloth is typically all you need to completely clean the surface.  this is unlike the Soft Scrub cleaners, that often require lots of elbow grease for this sort of soapy dirt.  Once applied, we wait until the bubbles go away before wiping away this cleaner.

Particularly Suited for Tubs and Shower Stalls

This cleaner works very well on glass shower doors.  These tend to become quite dirty with coated layers of soap scum.  But no challenge for Scrubbing Bubbles.

Versatile

We also use this cleaner to remove cigarette smoke stains from suspended ceiling tiles with success.

Caution: When cleaning any surface other than those found in typical bathrooms, be sure to test clean hidden area of the surface first, to make sure that this product will not damage or discolor it.

Antibacterial Cleaner

As a declared antibacterial cleaner, Scrubbing Bubbles yields near-sterile surfaces.  Thus, it reduces the spread of bacterial infections when used regularly.  So you needn’t follow up with a disinfecting spray after using this bathroom cleaner.

Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaner Leaves Bathroom Smelling Clean and Deodorized

The can says that it kills 99.9 percent of all bacteria, including the odor-causing ones, along with Staph, Klebstella pneumoniae, and E. coli.  You get the best antibacterial performance on hard, non-porous surfaces.

Watch It Working

You can hear its foaming action at work once you spray it on.

Does Not Scratch Shiny Metal Surfaces

It does not scratch or otherwise harm chrome faucet finishes.  So we spray it with reckless abandon on just about all bathroom surfaces on the sink or shower.  We avoid bathroom mirrors though, as the dirt that builds up on these cleans up easily with a cheaper glass cleaner.

Citrus Scent

We buy the lemon scented version of Scrubbing Bubbles. This smells nice and none too overwhelming once you finish the cleaning.

Rinses Off with Water

Recyclable Packaging

The spent can may be recycled.

Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaner is Environmentally Friendly

This aerosol contains no CFCs to harm the ozone layer of the atmosphere, which makes this cleaner a more environmentally friendly product.

Affordable

We get anywhere from seven to fourteen bathroom cleanings from one 25-ounce can. So at roughly $5 per can currently, this cleaner is cheap to buy, and it works!

Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaner Disadvantages, Cons, Limitations, and Concerns

Intense Fumes

The very strong odor while the bubbles are scrubbing can be overpowering.  So be sure to turn on the bathroom exhaust fan and / or open a bathroom window while applying this product.  Keep them open until after you’ve rinsed away the spent cleaner.

Should Leave the Area Being Cleaned

It’s also prudent to leave the room once you spray it on.  Spray it, and then leave the area immediately for fifteen minutes or so, while  Scrubbing Bubbles works their magic.

Can Take a Bit of Time to Loosen Dirty Deposits

We wish you didn’t have to wait so long, and that the scrubbing bubbles would work a bit faster; say right away, or at least, within two or three minutes.

Best to Wear Gloves when using Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaner

Scrubbing Bubbles can irritate the skin if left on it for more than a minute or two.  So wear gloves while using this cleaner.

Near Constant Can Shaking Needed While you Spray It

You must shake the can thoroughly prior to spraying as well as throughout spraying.  When spraying, we stop and shake every ten seconds or so. This assures that we get the highest amount of cleaning agents out of the can.

Our Rating for Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaner

All in all, Scrubbing Bubbles Antibacterial Bathroom Cleaner is a real time saver compared to the days of having to use cleansers and abrasive cleaners to complete bathroom cleanup tasks.  So we highly recommend it. Regardless of the strong odor it makes and the skin irritation we experience now and then, we rate this bathroom cleaner at 90 out of 100.
