Sony XG300 Reset

We give here the Sony XG300 tabletop speaker reset directions, to put it back to its default factory settings. E.g. Resetting returns sound mode and light settings to their fresh-out-of-the-box values.  Plus, a reset erases any earlier connected Bluetooth devices from memory. So it stops this unit from auto pairing to any nearby wireless devices afterwards. Moreover, you might do this to get this speaker ready for sale or re-gifting, or just to stop it from pairing with devices you no longer wish it to connect with.

Sony XG300 Reset, Step by Step

1. Turn the Speaker ON

Press and release the Power button for a half-second or so. E.g. Find the Power button as shown in the next picture. It’s on the front top of the unit, first button on the far left.

Then, the status light comes on.

The unit then makes a rising electronic music sound.

Furthermore, the XG 300 may also make a ding-dong sound and announce that it has connected to a device. Or it may make no sound at all if it doesn’t.  But whether it does or doesn’t pair though, this reset to default state routine works the same way, as follows.

2. Press and Hold the Play-Pause and MEGA BASS Buttons at the Same Time

Find these buttons as shown next.  Both of them are in the top button panel. The MEGA BASS button is the last button on the right in the first group of buttons on the left top front of the speaker.  And the Play-Pause button is in the rightmost group of buttons, first button on the left in that cluster.

Hold these in until the speaker shuts off, and all lights go dark.

After nearly 6 seconds, the XG300 powers down, and the status lamp and party lights (if enabled) all go dark. See the dark lights in the next shot.

3. Check that the Sony XG300 Reset Worked

Next, power on the speaker again, as detailed in step 1 above.

Note that after the reset, this speaker comes up in discovery mode. The Bluetooth Pairing lamp blinks blue in a pulse-pulse-pause-pulse-pulse-pause sequence, to tell you this. E.g. See this in the next picture.

This is a signal that you may then look for this speaker on a nearby BT device, and pair to it if you so desire.

4. Done with Sony XG300 Reset !

The reset is now complete. Thus you may now safely sell or gift this speaker, or pair it again with your Bluetooth devices.

Keep in mind that after you reset it, the XG300 no longer automatically pairs with any previously connected BT device. Thus, to set up auto pairing again, you first manually link this speaker with a device. Then following that, any time that both speaker and device have Bluetooth turned on, and they’re near each other, pairing will automatically take place once more.
