Thermos Insulated Beverage Bottle Review

We drink lots of hot tea and coffee in a day, whether at home or on the town.  The Thermos Insulated Beverage Bottle, 68 ounce version allows carrying over two liters of most any hot or cold beverage, on the road, and keeps it at or near its original temperature for over 24 hours.

Thermos Insulated Beverage Bottle Review Summary

Bought ours at Walmart, for approximately $35.  Thrilled we were, to find that this modern-day rugged container works as well as the old-style, glass interior flasks of the 1960s and 1970s.  It features a polished stainless steel construction, a rugged outer shell, a convenient carry handle, and works great as a tea tote or water bottle.  Though you probably wouldn’t want to send a kid to school with this giant Thermos in his backpack, it works great as a portable butler on picnics, football games, ski trips, and other outings where extreme temperatures are encountered, and from which the contents inside must be well insulated and protected from spoilage. This line of products also offers similarly constructed insulated cups and mugs, food jars, and travel tumblers.

While this very large thermos might be too big for a kid, it’s certainly strong enough to endure the typical rough handling from children.  Try the 16-ounce version for your small one. For work, school, or play, Thermos products keep your foods and drinks at the temperature you choose.  If you like food really warm, heat it to the temperature you desire before putting it in this unit.  Then, it will stay at very close to that same temperature for at least several hours.

No BPA in this all-metal insulated bottle.  It also circumvents the stigma associated with aluminum water bottles, with steel inner chamber.

It’s double wall construction is much stronger than the typical aluminum bottles, and though stainless steal, is still surprisingly light.  It’s like a bottle inside of a bottle, with a vacuum between them.

Better insulating and more rugged than the traditional canteen at keeping water cold.

Several Sizes of the Thermos Insulated Beverage Bottle Available

Comes in several sizes.  Popular ones are the 16, 24, 32, and this 2-liter version.

Stopper Plug Does Not Work Loose

The stopper seals tightly.  In fact, if you allow a few days without opening, once the contents have cooled, you may have a little trouble opening, as the reduced air pressure in the inner envelope resists opening.  Not a serious problem however.

Virtually Unbreakable

Shatter proof and nearly break proof.  Handles shocks pretty well, without worry of breaking the inner walls.  However, this bottle will dent and scratch if you drop it too hard.  So be gentle if you want your Thermos to look like new for years to come.

Useful Handle

They secure the thick plastic handle with metal rings to the body side. Plus, that handle features smooth grooves that match the best positions for the fingers to grasp it.

The Thermos Insulated Beverage Bottle Holds Over Two Liters

With a capacity of just over two liters, this coffee thermos holds plenty of java for one to three people.

No Leaks

Does not leak at all with the lid properly tightened, even when vigorously shaken.

Disadvantages, Limitations, Problems, and Cons of the Thermos Insulated Beverage Bottle

Too Big for Many Lunch Boxes

Doesn’t fit inside most average lunch boxes.  It’s quite long, at 14.75 inches.  A bit big for an efficient travel Thermos, and perhaps too heavy to serve well as a sports water bottle; especially when filled to the brim.  However, it can be extremely portable when placed in a large lunch box or book bag.

Easily Dented and Nicked

Ours had a small dent on the outer shell.  We would have returned it, but the store had only one.  Doesn’t affect performance.  So, while this pitcher will easily survive everyday use, wear, and tear, it also can be dented by extreme blunt force.

Not a Good Hydration Bottle

Not so great as a hydration bottle, since this product is not well-suited for sipping or slugging directly from it.  Best to pour some contents into the lid cup first, and then take them in from there.

The Thermos Insulated Beverage Bottle is Inconvenient for Thicker Foods

We recommend storing only beverages, soups, and stews.  Store nly foods that pour easily.  Since this insulated container is so deep, you need a really long spoon to scoop out anything that does not pour.

Needs an Insulated Lid

The lid / serving cup’s metal exterior quickly becomes too hot to handle when pouring steaming coffee into it.  An included insulated handle would have been nice to have.

Need Extra Long Straws

If you plan on drinking from this with a straw, make sure you buy VERY LONG straws.  You’ll need those to reach the bottom herein.

No Drinking Nozzle

Does not include a pump or nipple-top for direct drinking.

This Thermos Insulated Beverage Bottle is Not Made in the USA

Made in China instead.

Needs Long Handled Brush for Cleaning This Bottle

For the best results in cleaning stubborn soup deposits, you’ll need a long-handled bottle brush.

Our Rating for the Thermos Insulated Beverage Bottle

We’re quite pleased with this purchase, and use it every day to keep coffee, cocoa, and tea hot.  Haven’t noticed any flavor alterations caused by chemicals from the inner bottle leeching into the contents.  Great, especially with all the concern these days over what sorts of poisons we might be ingesting from the plastic bottles.  Little plastic in this insulated container, except for the handle, stopper, and the inner lining of the outer lid.  We’d rate this Thermos vacuum bottle at 98 out of 100.  It’s probably the best thermos we’ve ever tried.
