Why Does My JBL Flip 6 Speaker Keep Turning OFF

Here, we answer the question: Why Does My JBL Flip 6 Speaker Keep Turning OFF?

Why Does My JBL Flip 6 Speaker Keep Turning OFF: Common Reasons and Fixes

Auto Shut Down is Engaging

This unit has an energy saver feature that shuts down the Flip after approximately twenty minutes of inactivity (audio playing or button presses).

Unlike pressing the Power button to turn OFF the Flip, automatic turn OFF makes no power down sound.

The unit just shuts down quietly, with all lights going out.

Note however, that automatic shut down does not occur with the speaker connected to external power. Playing something through this Flip or pressing any of the buttons, resets the auto shut down timer.

There appears to be no way to disable this feature in the current firmware. So be sure to play something while the speaker is running, or manually turn OFF the unit yourself to prevent automatic shutdown.

Battery Not Fully Charged

If the battery is too low on charge, the Flip may keep turning OFF.

So be sure to fully charge the battery before each use, to prevent this.

The Battery is Bad

These lithium ion polymer batteries only perform between 500 and 1,000 charge-discharge cycles before degrading.  So if you use your speaker a lot or it is more than several years old, a faulty battery is the likely culprit. In this case, replace it.

The Flip is Defective

The speaker itself may be faulty. In that case, it’s best to just get a new one.
