Gives the hard reset JBL Clip 2 procedure, to restore its default settings and state.  This routine works as described next.

Hard resetting restores the Clip 2 to a known-good state. Plus, this erases any earlier paired Bluetooth devices from memory. This then stops the 2 from pairing to any devices. Also, you might do this to get the 2 ready or sale or re-gifting. Or just do it to stop the 4 from pairing with devices you no longer have interest in.

Hard Reset JBL Clip 2: Step by Step

1. Turn on the Clip 2

Firstly, press and hold the Power button until the status lamp lights up blue and the guitar strum sound plays.

Then, the status light comes on.

Top rear view of the 2, powered on. Showing the status lamp glowing blue.

2. Wait for the Power Up Guitar Sound

The 2 makes a rising electric guitar strum sound as it boots. The Clip 2 is then ready for use when this riff finishes.

Now it may or may not pair with a device. This depends on whether there are any in-range devices that know about this speaker.  But whether it pairs or not, hard reset works the same way, as follows.

3. Press the Volume UP and Phone Buttons Together to Continue with Hard Reset JBL Clip 2

Then find the Phone and UP Volume buttons.  The Phone button is in the middle of the left side panel.  And the Volume UP button is to its left.

The -Phone- and -Volume Up- buttons.

The Clip 2 then performs the hard reset.

Next, within a second or two, the unit powers off after this very quick operation finishes.  You’ll hear the falling guitar strum sound. Also the status lamp goes dark.

4. Check that the Hard Reset of the JBL Clip 2 Worked

Next, power on the Clip Two again, as detailed  in step 1.

Note that after a hard reset, the 2 comes up in ready-to-pair mode, with the status lamp rapidly flashing blue.

5. Done with Hard Reset JBL Clip 2 !

So the hard reset is now complete. Thus you may gift or sell it, or pair it again with your favorite Bluetooth devices.

After a hard reset, the 2 no longer automatically connects with any device. Thus, to restore auto pairing, you first manually pair the Clip 2 with a device. Then whenever both are in range, auto pairing again takes place.
