Explains how to pair JBL Wonderboom 1 together. Then two of them play the same audio from the same source device.  In this scenario, we use one JBL Wonderboom 1, and one Wonderboom 2. But you can also pair two JBL Wonderboom 1’s, two Wonderboom 2’s.

How to Pair JBL Wonderboom 1 Together: Step by Step

1. Power Up Both JBL Wonderbooms

Press and release the Power button on the first one, and await the power-ON sound.

2. Pair the First JBL Wonderboom 1 with a Source Device

In this demo, we’ll first pair the JBL Wonderboom 1 1 with our iPad Air tablet.  If you’re not sure how to do this, then see our  How to Pair JBL Wonderboom 1 Speaker   post for details.

3. Press and Release the Play / Pause Button on the First JBL Wonderboom

Next, press the middle (Play / Pause) area of the JBL Wonderboom 1 you just paired. Then hold in until that speaker makes a connect sound and the pairing lamp starts quick-flashing.  Here, the first JBL Wonderboom 1 is the original one.

The -Play-Pause- button.

4. Press the Play / Pause Button on the 2nd JBL Wonderboom

Next, press and release the middle area of the second speaker.  In this case, ours is the second version of the JBL Wonderboom 1 (Wonderboom 2).

Then we get a ready-to-pair sound. Also the pairing light just above the center button blinks briefly.  Then once this speaker links with the first JBL Wonderboom 1, the pairing lamp starts glowing steadily.

5. Done with How to Pair JBL Wonderboom 1 Together !

Your two JBL Wonderboom 1s now share a connection with the same source device.  Thus, when you play audio on that device, you’ll now hear it through both JBL Wonderboom 1 speakers.

A JBL Wonderboom 1 and a Wonderboom  side by side, paired together.

Note that each JBL Wonderboom 1 provides stereo sound, even when you pair two of them together.  So each speaker plays in stereo whether or not it pairs to another JBL Wonderboom 1.  Thus it’s not the case that the first JBL Wonderboom 1 plays the left channel and the second plays the right. Both JBL Wonderboom 1s play both channels, in stereo, in fact.

Breaking This Pairing

To break the link between JBL Wonderboom 1 units, simply power down the second one.  After that, the first one (the JBL Wonderboom 1 that you connected with your source device) keeps playing.

Or, powering down the first one will also break the pairing between it and the second speaker. Thus the second one stops playing.  But this also breaks the link with the source device.  So shutting OFF the first JBL Wonderboom 1 stops BOTH from playing. But the second one will still be ON until you turn it OFF, even though it’s playing nothing.
