Shows how to pair the Sony SRS XB12 Extra Bass Bluetooth speaker with common portable devices. So these include the iPhone, iPod Touch, and the iPad line of Apple phones, media players, and tablets. Plus, a similar routine works with Android devices. So these include Samsung, Amazon, and Google phones, media players, and tablets.
Start with your SRS XB12 OFF and the Power button dark. Then run through these directions to pair it to your source BT mobile device. We use an iPad Air tablet here for this demo.
Firstly, press the Home button to reveal the smart device’s Home screen.
So we find ours on the second page of the Home screen.
Thirdly, touch the Settings app icon.
The smart device then shows the first page of its settings.
Then the Bluetooth Settings screen displays as follows. Note that our Bluetooth is running here. But since our Sony SRS XB12 is currently OFF, it cannot be in Bluetooth discovery mode. Thus it does not show up in the Other Devices list. Also, we don’t see it since we’ve never paired this speaker with our mobile device before.
So turn on the XB12 by quickly pressing its Power button.
The speaker then powers up, and its status lamp blinks blue. This means that it’s ready to receive a Bluetooth connection request. If it slow blinks, then it’s passively waiting for a Bluetooth connection request to arrive. But if it’s fast-flashing blue, then it’s broadcasting its connection info. This way, other devices can find it.
But since our iPad does not know about this speaker, the SRS XB12 will not pair with it automatically.
Now, to see this speaker on your device, place it into Bluetooth discovery / pairing mode. To do that, press and hold the Power button. Then release that button when the speaker beeps twice. Plus, the Status lamp begins blinking rapidly.
So, see the screen shot next.
Then tap the listed speaker in the discovered devices list.
Your mobile device then pairs with the SRS XB12.
Then the the mobile device’s Bluetooth Settings screen change to look something like the following. Note the now-connected SRS XB12 entry.
At last, we have now successfully connected our XB12 BT speaker with with a common mobile tablet device.
