Sony SRS XB33 speaker front left view.
Shows how to pair the Sony SRS XB33 Extra Bass Bluetooth speaker with typical wireless devices. So these include Apple and Android phones, media players, tablets, and computers.
Start with your SRS XB33 OFF with the Power button dark. Then run through these directions to pair it. We use an iPad Air tablet for this demo.
Firstly, press the Home button to reveal the smart device’s Home screen.
So we find ours on the second page of the Home screen.
Thirdly, touch the Settings app icon.
The smart device then shows the first page of its settings.
Then the Bluetooth Settings screen displays as follows. Note that our Bluetooth is active here. But since our Sony SRS XB33 is currently OFF, it cannot be in Bluetooth pairing mode. Thus it does not appear in the Bluetooth devices list. Also, we don’t see it since we’ve never linked this speaker with this tablet before.
Additionally, turn on the XB33 by quickly pressing and releasing its Power button.
The speaker then powers up, and its status lamp glows green.
But since our iPad does not know about this speaker, the SRS XB33 will not pair with it automatically.
So to see your speaker on your device, place it into Bluetooth discovery / pairing mode. To do that, press and hold in the Pairing button. Then release that button when the speaker announces “Bluetooth pairing,” in a female voice.
Also, the Bluetooth Status lamp begins double flashing in a pulse-pulse-pause-pulse-pulse-pause pattern.
Then see the screen shot next.
So tap the listed speaker in the discovered devices list.
Your mobile device then pairs with it.
Then the the mobile device’s Bluetooth Settings screen changes to look something like the following. Note the now-connected SRS XB33 entry in the My Devices list.
At last, we have now successfully paired the XB33 BT speaker with a common mobile tablet device.
