Change the bass response of the JBL Charge 3, by turning on and off its extra bass mode (EBM). In fact, when activated, EBM makes the passive bass radiators vibrate a lot more. This also adds a rumble quality to the playing program. But you may wish to switch OFF EBM when playing the speaker loudly, say at an outdoor party. This helps cut bass distortion. Plus, less bass means longer playing time before the battery runs dead.
First, by default, the JBL Charge 3 has EBM turned on, after a reset. This adds a bit of extra treble and lots more bass to the audio. While EBM often runs the battery out of power faster, the better sound may be well worth it.
You can turn EBM off by pressing the Volume Down (-) and Bluetooth buttons. Then hold them in for about ten seconds, until some of the battery gauge lights come on.
Find the buttons on the top of the speaker.
Finally, to turn extra bass mode back on again, press the Volume Down and Bluetooth buttons. Then hold them in until the battery gauge lights up again. And finally, release the buttons. When the battery gauge lights, EBM resumes once more. Note that you can also reset the speaker to turn on EBM again, although this creates extra effort, Why? Because if you do then, then you must re pair your devices to the Charge 3.
