JBL Charge 5 Charger Wattage

The correct JBL Charge 5 charger wattage is enough to fully recharge this model in 4 hours. But currently, JBL does not include a charger with the 5.  So, you’ll need to either have one already or buy one.

Also, the 5 has a USB-C charging port. So have the right cable on hand, to connect to whatever power adapter you choose. Details follow.

Furthermore, the maximum current the 5 accepts is 3 amps, which gives the speediest charging performance. So to get that, be sure to use a USB-C adapter.  Furthermore, use a USB-C to USB-C cord. Or if you have one with a QC 3.0 USB-A port, then use a thicker USB-A to USB-C cable. This sort of tcharger, even the smallest ones, has plenty of wattage for the Charge 5.

We’ve successfully charged the 5 with the AC adapters we list below. Note that some of these feature a USB A type female connector.  So, you can use these adapters with the USB-C to USB-A cord that accompanies the 5.  Or, if your adapter only has a USB-C output port, then you need a USB-C to USB-C cable.

Now, to the charger wattage choices.

This group of chargers can recharge the JBL Charge 5 at the maximum 15 watts rate.  Plus none of these is too expensive. But for most of them, you will need a USB-C to USB-C cable to connect each adapter to the 5.

USB-A Chargers that Also Work Well with the JBL Charge 5

This hefty household wall charging station delivers all the current you need for charging your JBL Charge 5.  It delivers full USB 2 power on each and every one of its ten output ports.  This means that you will not increase the speaker charging time when you charge more than one device on it. In fact, this charging station supplies enough juice for older JBL models. Furthermore, you can charge them all at the same time as well. But since each port only delivers 2.4 amps, you won’t get the fastest charging time from this particular power station.  But you can still charge the Charge 5 in under 8 hours with this.

2. CE Tech 4 Port USB Wall Charger

This CE Tech charging station is another beefy unit. It suits well for recharging most JBL Charge speakers quickly.  This USB power hub appears sometimes on eBay for under thirty US dollars.  We also review this quad port charging system here.

3. GE Jasco Y14 11307 USB AC Charger

4. JBL Charger for the Charge 5
