JBL Charge 5 Power Adapter

An adequate JBL Charge 5 Power Adapter supplies enough power to fully recharge this speaker in 4 hours. But currently, JBL does not include a USB Power Adapter with this speaker.  So, you’ll need to either have one already or buy one.

Also, the speaker has a USB-C charging port. So have the right cable on hand, to connect to whatever Power Adapter you choose. Details follow.

Furthermore, the maximum current this speaker accepts is 3 amps, which gives the speediest charging performance. So to get that, be sure to use a USB-C Power Adapter.  So, use a USB-C to USB-C cord. Or if you have an adapter with a QC 3.0 USB-A port, then use a thicker USB-A to USB-C cable.

Which JBL Charge 5 Power Adapter Works Best?

We’ve successfully charged our Charge 5 speaker with the AC adapters we list below. Note that some of these feature a USB A type female connector.  So, you can use these Power Adapters with the USB-C to USB-A cord that accompanies the speaker.  Or, if your Power Adapter only has a USB-C output port, then you need a USB-C to USB-C cable.

USB-C Power Adapter Models that Work Well with the JBL Charge 5

This group of Power Adapters can recharge the JBL Charge 5 at the maximum 15 watts rate.  Plus none of these is too expensive. But for most of them, you will need a USB-C to USB-C cable to connect them to the 5.

USB-A Power Adapter Models that Work Well Too

This hefty household wall charging station delivers all the current you need for charging your JBL Charge 5.  It delivers full USB 2 power on each and every one of its ten output ports.  This means that you will not increase the speaker charging time when you charge more than one device on it. In fact, this charging station supplies enough juice for older JBL speaker models. Furthermore, you can charge them all at the same time as well. But since each port only delivers 2.4 amps, you won’t get the fastest charging time from this particular power station.  But you can still charge the Charge 5 in under 8 hours with this.

2. CE Tech 4 Port USB Wall Power Adapter

This CE Tech charging station is another beefy unit. It suits well for recharging most JBL Charge speakers quickly.  This USB power hub appears sometimes on eBay for under thirty US dollars.  We also review this quad port charging system here.

3. GE Jasco Y14 11307 USB AC Power Adapter

This Power Adapter is sometimes available at Amazon.com.   At less than twelve dollars, this dual port AC USB wall adapter is small enough for easy travel.  It’s also great when you take your 5 on vacation, because it features a night light.  Makes finding your way around strange hotel rooms a cinch.  See our   GE Jasco 2.1 Amp USB Power Adapter, Y14 Review   post for more details.

 

4. JBL Power Adapter for the Charge 5 BT Speaker
