JBL Clip 4 Pairing Procedure

Gives the JBL Clip 4 pairing routine. This works when pairing with the iPhone, iPod Touch, and the iPad line of Apple phones, media players, and tablets. However, similar methods work for Android devices as well.

JBL Clip 4 Pairing: Step by Step

With your JBL Clip 4 OFF, run through this procedure to pair it to your mobile device.

We use an iPad Air tablet for this demo.

1. Get to the Home Screen on your Source Device

Firstly, press the Home button to reveal the mobile iOS device’s Home screen.

2. Find the Settings App

Then we find ours on the second page of the iOS home screen on our iPad Air.

An iOS Home screen showing the -Settings- app.

3. Bring up the Settings App

Thirdly, tap the Settings app icon.

The device then shows the first page of its Settings page.

4. Go to Bluetooth Settings  to Continue with JBL Clip 4 Pairing

Then our Bluetooth settings screen displays as follows. Note that Bluetooth is ON here. But since the JBL Clip 4 is currently OFF, it cannot be in discovery mode.  So it does not show up in the   Bluetooth Devices   list. Also, we don’t see it since we’ve never paired it with this tablet before.

The previously paired Bluetooth devices list. Note that there’s no JBL Clip 4 now.

5. Turn On your JBL Clip 4

Power up the speaker by fast pressing its  Power  button.

The -Power- button on the left side of the JBL Clip 4.

The speaker then powers up, and its status lamp flashes or glows white.  If blinking, this means that it’s ready to receive a connection request.

But since our tablet does not know about it, the Clip 4 will not pair with it automatically.

6. Put your JBL Clip 4 into Discovery Mode

Now, to see your JBL Clip 4 on your source device, place it into discovery mode. To do that, press and release the Bluetooth button.

The -Bluetooth- button.

When you press the Bluetooth button, the Clip 4 plays a repeating single pluck guitar note. Also, the status lamp begins fast flashing white.

7. Find your Speaker on your Mobile Device to Continue with JBL Clip 4 Pairing

We find the Clip 4, on the following screen.

iPadOS Bluetooth Settings page, showing the JBL Clip 4 as discovered.

8. Pair with your JBL Clip 4

Tap the speaker entry in the Other Devices section of the Bluetooth devices list.

Your source device then pairs with it.

The tablet’s   Bluetooth Settings  screen then changes to look something like the following.  Note the now-connected JBL Clip 4 entry.

The iPadOS Bluetooth Settings page, showing the JBL Clip 4 speaker as Connected.

9. Done with JBL Clip 4 Pairing !

Finally, we have now paired our JBL Clip 4 with our tablet source device.
