The US version of the power adapter for the original Google Home smart speaker discussed here, features non retracting AC prongs, a six-foot long permanently attached, flat “ribbon” cord, and is reasonably light weight for its 33 watt power delivery capacity. It’s typical square yet unimposing width and height facilitates near certain fitting into a standard power strip or wall outlet without blocking adjacent receptacles or pushing against other nearby plugs, as shown next.
Yet this wall adapter silently delivers that 33 watts of energy to this first offering in the Google Home line of intelligent talking speakers. This AC adapter delivers I.T.E. levels of good regulation, helping the speaker provide that deep bass and audio dynamic range that it’s known for, as well as exceptionally reliable operation — never crashes.
This is by no stretch a penny pincher AC power adapter. It appears well constructed though it is permanently sealed, operates with very little heating even at higher output volumes, and emits little if any detectable RFI and EMI interference. While not designed to be repaired, the low cost of switching supply wall adapters such as this one, really relegates the fixing of these sorts of ITE devices an obsolete hobby these days.
Power adapter specifications follow.
Model: W16-033/V1A. Input: 110-240 volts, 50-60 Hz., 1.1 Amps Max. Output: 16.5 volts at 2 Amps. CAN: ICES-3(B)/NMB-3(B) Ac Adapter. Made in China by Chicony-F1. I.T.E. UP/N W033R004H, REV. 0A | 6AH081B4. For indoor use. Polarity: Positive center on the DC output “barrel” connector.
The DC output connector, the metal barrel part, is approximately 10 mm long, with an outer diameter of approximately 4 mm. The barrel itself is oriented at a right angle to the cable, which allows proper fitting into the bottom of the speaker, as shown below.
The diameter of the positive lead hole at the top of the barrel connector is roughly 3 mm.
This power adapter, including its cable and connector, weighs approximately 5 ounces.
