JBL Xtreme 2 Low Frequency Mode

Change bass loudness on the JBL Xtreme 2, by turning on and off its low frequency mode (LFM). When ON, LFM makes the passive bass radiators vibrate much more. So this adds a low rumble quality to the playing program, that travels pretty far from the speaker.

By default, this mode is ON after a reset.  This adds a bit of treble and lots of extra bass to the audio output. So, by default the speaker indeed sounds like it has lots of bass.

You can turn this mode off by pressing the Volume Down (-) and Bluetooth buttons.

Hold them in for about ten seconds, until the Power and Connect buttons light up white.  Find all these buttons on the top of the Xtreme 2.

JBL Xtreme 2 Low Frequency Mode: How to Turn ON

To turn low frequency mode back on, again, press the Volume Down and Bluetooth buttons. Then hold them in until the Power and Connect buttons light white.  Then release the buttons.  When the buttons inside the oval light white, the low frequency mode is active once more.

Warning

The drivers really thump when you switch ON LFM.  So use caution in how loudly you play the Xtreme 2 with the resulting extra bass. This may prevent damage to the drivers inside. If the bass is crackling, tapping, or otherwise distorting, turn it down ! Also, you might turn off LFM to conserve battery power. This is good to do  if you’re going to be away from a charger for a while.
