How to Turn On JBL Xtreme Bass Mode

You can control how loud the bass is on the JBL Xtreme, by turning on and off its bass mode. When ON, this extra bass mode makes the passive bass radiators vibrate much more. Plus, this mode adds a low rumble quality to the playing program, that travels pretty far from the speaker.

How to Turn ON JBL Xtreme Bass Mode

By default, the JBL Xtreme has its bass mode turned ON after a reset. This adds a bit of treble and lots of extra bass to the audio.

If you have turned it OFF since the last reset, then you can turn it ON again as follows. Press the Volume Down (-) and Bluetooth buttons together. Hold them in for about ten seconds, until the Power and Connect buttons light up white. This activates bass mode once more.

To switch bass mode back to what it was before, then again press the Volume Down and Bluetooth buttons. Hold them in until the Power and Connect buttons light white. Then release them.

Finally, when the buttons inside the circled oval above light white, the low frequency mode has resumed once again.

Warning

The drivers really thump when you enable bass mode. So use caution in how loudly you play this speaker with the resulting extra bass. This can help avoid damage to the drivers inside. Indeed if the bass is crackling, tapping, or otherwise distorting, turn it down !

Also, bass mode depletes the speaker battery faster. So if you really need to conserve power, we suggest switching bass mode OFF.
