You charge JBL Charge 5 conveniently via their USB-C charge port. Then to get the shortest JBL Charge 5 charge time, use a large enough USB-C charger.
According to the specs, the nominal time is four (4) hours. This assumes a 5 volt, 3 amp, 15 watt charger with a USB-C plug.
On a full charge, the JBL Charge 5 can play for up to twenty (20) hours from a single charge. It has this capacity due to its 7,500 mAh, 3.6 volt, 27 watt-hour lithium ion polymer battery. But when you play it extra loudly, especially with lots of bass, you will see significantly shorter play time. We see the 5 run dead in around thirteen hours at party level volumes. So to get the most charge time from it, saving power is key. So only play it as loudly as you need to.
You may notice that the time it plays per charge decreases with increasing age. This is normal for devices like this one, that rely on lithium ion polymer batteries.
But by exercising the battery, you can slow this decline. So to work out the JBL Charge 5, run the battery dead. Then charge it again every three to six months when not in use.
Also, we suggest that you not leave the 5 plugged into a charger once it reaches full charge. Once the battery gauge completely goes out, disconnect the 5 immediately to prevent overcharging and battery damage.
