An adequate JBL Charge 5 charger type has enough power to recharge this speaker in around 4 hours. Note that currently, JBL does not include any charger with this speaker. So, you’ll need to get one.
Also, the speaker has a USB-C charging port. So get the right USB-C cable to connect to whatever charger you have. Details follow.
Furthermore, the maximum current this speaker accepts is 3 amps, which gives the speediest charging performance. So to get that, be sure to use a USB-C charger. Either use a USB-C to USB-C cord. Or if you have a charger with a QC 3.0 USB-A port, then use a compliant USB-A to USB-C cable.
Which JBL Charge 5 Charger Type Works Best?
We’ve successfully charged our Charge 5 speaker with the AC adapters we list below. Note that some of these feature a USB A type female connector. So, you can use an AC adapter like these to connect. Or, if your charger only has a USB-C output port, you’ll need to get a USB-C to USB-C cable.

This hefty household wall charging station delivers all the current you need for charging your JBL Charge 5. It delivers full USB 2 power on each and every one of its ten output ports. This means that you will not increase the speaker charging time when you charge more than one device on it. But since each port only delivers 2.4 amps, you won’t get the fastest charging time from this particular power station. But you can still charge the Charge 5 in under 8 hours with this.
2. CE Tech 4 Port USB Wall Charger
This CE Tech charging station is another beefy unit. It works well for recharging most JBL Charge speakers in the shortest time. Now this USB power hub is sometimes available on eBay for under thirty US dollars. We’ve also reviewed this quad port charging system.
3. GE Jasco Y14 11307 USB AC Charger
This charger is available at Amazon.com now and then. It costs less than twelve dollars. Plus this dual port AC USB wall adapter is small enough to fit in any tech bag. It’s folding prongs really help in this regard. It’s also great when you take your speaker on vacation, because it features a night light. Makes finding your way around strange hotel rooms a cinch. 4. JBL Charger for the Charge 5
