The front of the original carton packaging for the Sony SRS XG300 speaker.
Gives reset Sony Bluetooth speaker directions, to return it to its default settings. Resetting restores the speaker to its factory default state. Plus, resetting erases any earlier paired Bluetooth devices from its memory. Clearing these stops the unit from pairing to any nearby Bluetooth devices. Also, you might reset your Sony Bluetooth speaker to get it ready for sale or re-gifting, or to stop it from pairing with devices you no longer wish it to connect with. In this scenario, we demonstrate this on the Sony SRS XB10 and XB12 models, although other Sony Bluetooth speakers reset in mostly the same way.
Press and release the Power button for a half-second or so. Find the Power button as shown in the next picture. On just about every Sony Bluetooth speaker, you’ll find the Power button either on the top or the front of the unit. On our test speaker here, we find it on the side, near the bottom.
Then, the status light comes on, as shown next.
The speaker may make a ding-dong beep sound when it powers up, should it pair to a nearby device. Or it may make no sound if it connects with nothing. Whether paired or not, this reset routine works the same way, as follows.
Some Sony Bluetooth speakers reset when you press the Volume DOWN and Power buttons together, while others use the Play-Pause and Volume DOWN chord. On our test speaker uses the Volume DOWN and Power buttons, and these are located near the bottom of the speaker, as we call out in the next picture.
The Bluetooth speaker then enters factory hard reset.
After a very short pause, the speaker powers OFF, and the status lamp goes dark, as shown next. Note that on this speaker, there is no power-down sound, although some other models may play one as they power OFF.
Next, power on the speaker again, as described in step 1 above.
Note that after a reset, most every Sony Bluetooth speaker comes up in pairing mode. The Power lamp blinks rapidly to let you know this. This is a signal that you may then look for this speaker on a nearby BT device, and pair to it if you so desire.
The reset is now finished. So you may now sell or gift it, or pair it again with your favorite Bluetooth devices.
After a hard factory reset, most Sony Bluetooth speakers no longer automatically connects with any previously paired BT device. Thus, to restore automatic pairing, you manually pair it with a device. Then after that, any time that both speaker and that device have Bluetooth turned on, and they’re near to each other, pairing would automatically take place once more.
