UE Wonderboom speaker, front view, showing the Volume UP and DOWN buttons highlighted.
The Wonderboom UE Bluetooth speaker sports five buttons on the top. It has two lamps in these buttons. Plus, find one USB port on the back, inside a water tight space. The status lamp lights in one color and flashes to show speaker charging is occurring. There’s also a lamp in the Bluetooth button that shows pairing status. In the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom buttons guide, we discuss all buttons on this speaker. We point out where they are on the unit with lots of pictures, explain what each button does when pressed, and when to press it to accomplish numerous tasks. We also detail the two status lamps as well as the charger input port below.
First off, the Power button switches the Wonderboom ON and OFF. This button also contains an LED that shows power and battery status. When the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom is ON, and the battery has at least a little charge, this lamp glows solid white. But when the battery falls to critically low energy levels, this lamp glows solid red, letting you know that it’s time to put the WB on the charge before it shuts off.
Next, we have the Bluetooth discovery mode button, as circled in the next picture. This is the smaller of the two raised top panel buttons on the Wonderboom Logitech speaker.
With this Ultimate Ears powered on, press the Bluetooth button to place the speaker into discovery / pairing mode. When in pairing mode, the Wonderboom sends its name and other connection information over the BT radio medium, allowing nearby Bluetooth devices to find it and then connect.
When speaker is in pairing mode, this button rapidly flashes white. Then after the speaker connects, this button glows steady white for several seconds, to tell that pairing was successful. Then, it goes OFF to save battery power. It remains OFF as long as the BT connection remains intact. Note though that this button does not glow when the speaker is powered ON but not paired. Again, it only lights during discovery, and for a brief time after pairing is established.
The Play / Pause button is a bit hidden on the top of the Wonderboom, as there is no visual icon embossed on this panel for it, unlike the other two buttons, that are embossed, and raised as well. This button is not raised, though you can find it just beneath the Ultimate Ears logo. See the Play / Pause button area, circled in green in the next photo.
Press near the center of the Ultimate Ears logo to stop or resume playback.
Finally, you can skip forward to the next song in a playlist with the Play-Pause button on the speaker. As the song plays, do the following…
The Ultimate Ears Wonderboom has volume controls too. What portable speaker doesn’t? Find these on the speaker front. Controls here look like large minus and plus symbols, They’re white colored on our speaker. When pressed, they lower and raise Wonderboom volume. See the volume buttons, circled in green, in the next picture. These volume buttons never light up, and the easiest places to press to get them to work, are in the centers of the controls.
Pressing the Volume Down (-) and Power buttons together for five to eight seconds, with the Wonderboom powered on and not paired, triggers a factory reset. See our How to Factory Reset Ultimate Ears Wonderboom Logitech Speaker for further details on how to use this button pair to hard reset the speaker.
This LED light is dark when the Wonderboom Ultimate Ears is OFF and not charging. When powered ON, the status lamp glows steady white no matter whether the speaker is paired or not. Plus, It pulsates a dim-to-bright-to-dim pattern as the Wonderboom recharges. See the Power lamp in the next picture,
The USB Power input port hides behind a sealed, flexible door on the back of the speaker, near its bottom, as pictured next.
You open this panel carefully, prying it out with a fingernail, coin, or other such small yet not too sharp instrument. Avoid overly pointy prying objects, as these can mar the water seal around the door edges, and thus compromise the Wonderboom’s water resistance feature.
This is a micro USB female plug, where your AC or car charger cord connects, in order to recharge the Wonderboom, as shown next.
