JBL Charge 3 Charge Time for Full Recharge

You charge JBL Charge 3 Bluetooth speakers conveniently via the micro USB charge port, and to get the shortest charge time and fullest charge when the Charge 3 runs dead, use a large enough USB-A to micro USB or USB-C to micro USB power adapter.

JBL Charge 3 Charge Time: How Long to Fully Recharge This Speaker

According to the specs for this speaker the nominal time it takes to recharge the JBL Charge 3 is four and a half (4.5) hours. This assumes a 5 volt, 2.3 amp, 11.5 watt charger with a micro USB plug for the speaker.

JBL Charge 3 Charge Time: How Long it Plays Per Single Charge

On a full charge, the JBL Charge 3 speaker can play for up to twenty (20) hours from a single charge, due to its 22.2 watt-hour lithium ion polymer battery.  But when you play it extra loudly, especially with lots of bass, you will see significantly shorter playing time.  We’ve seen this speaker run dead in around thirteen hours when run at full volume. So to get the most charge time from it, power conservation is key.  Only play it as loudly as you need to.

The Play Time Shrinks Over Time

If you own this speaker over a few to several years, you may notice that the time it plays from a single charge decreases as the speaker ages.  This is normal for devices like this one, that rely on lithium ion polymer batteries.

But by exercising the battery, you can slow this decline.  So to work out the JBL Charge 3, run the battery dead and charge it again every three to six months when not in use.

Also, we suggest that you not leave the speaker plugged into a charger once it is fully charged.  Once the battery gauge completely goes out, disconnect the speaker immediately to prevent overcharging and battery damage.
