The JBL Connect Plus (Connect+) app manages connections to compatible JBL Bluetooth speakers. Now in this piece, we include the screenshots we took of the iOS version of this app, while conducting various tests of our JBL portable speakers. Applying Firmware Updates to the JBL Charge 3 Speaker

Next, we have the home screen in the app, just after connecting it with a JBL Charge 3 speaker and power bank. Note the orange encircled exclamation point in the top right corner of the speaker image in the next picture. This means that there is at least one pending notification to view about the speaker.

Barrage of Important Notices
Next. we show the first notification. It’s telling us that a new version of the speaker firmware is available for the Charge 3.

Then, there’s another important notice.

Firmware Update Confirmation Screen
Next, we have the firmware update confirmation screen, shown next.

As the firmware image file transfers from the mobile device to the speaker, we see a pie chart progression indicator screen. The next several screenshots show the progression of the update process.

Finally, the Connect Plus app takes us back to its Home screen for the JBL Charge 3. Note here though, that orange exclamation point has disappeared, indicating that the firmware version currently installed on the JBL Charge 3 is indeed the most recently issued one.

Changing Bluetooth Name of a JBL Speaker Using the Connect+ App

How to Update the JBL Charge 3 Speaker Bluetooth Speaker Name
Tapping the pencil icon activates the speaker name edit box.

The cursor then moves into that edit box.

Use common virtual keyboard editing techniques to change the JBL Charge 3 speaker name to whatever you wish.

Firstly, blank out the old one by backspacing over it.

Then, type in the new Bluetooth name and then tap the Done key.
After that, the system takes you back to the speaker’s home screen, showing the updated Bluetooth name.

After altering the Bluetooth name, the Connect app instructs you to pair again to the speaker, using its new name, after renaming it.
