Infinity Button on JBL Charge 5

The infinity button on JBL Charge 5 is on the top of the speaker.  They also call it the PartyBoost button. So here we explain the workings of this button, how and when to use it, and what it does,

In summary, this pushbutton lets you sync from two to over a hundred PartyBoost compatible JBL speakers together. Thus, they all play the same program.  So you can fill a much larger party area with sound than you could with just one speaker.  Moreover, you may place the speakers up to tens of feet apart. So the area you can cover is quite large.

Now you use the Infinity button to connect two or more JBL speakers together, in “party mode”. When linked like this, they all play the same program without any delays or echoes.  E,g, Infinity mode works like Amazon’s multi room music groups on their Alexa speakers.  Thus, all speakers that join up play the same audio at the same time.

With each speaker running, you press the Infinity button on each one to add to the PartyBoost group.

The Infinity button on JBL Charge 5 is a raised button in the shape of the infinity sign. We find on the top panel, first button on the left. Thus its name.

Infinity Button on JBL Charge 5: How to Use

Note that you can mix and match any combination of JBL speakers in this joined group with the following stipulations. They all support the PartyBoost protocol. Later model speakers from the Flip, Charge, Xtreme, and Boombox series can all work together this way.

    1. Place all speakers within a few feet of each other.
    2. Power up and pair the first (master) speaker to your Bluetooth source device.
    3. Next, power up each additional (slave) BT speaker that you wish to join with the master.
    4. Press and release the Infinity button on the master speaker. Either the PartyBoost light or the over ring around the center buttons should then light up. Which you see depends on the speaker model.
    5. Then press and release the Infinity button on each slave speaker in turn.  Again, some lamp on each speaker, depending on model.
    6. Now when you play something on your Bluetooth source device, you will hear it on all connected speakers.
    7. Finally, you can break the connection between the speakers by pressing and releasing the Infinity button on the “master” speaker.
