JBL Flip 2 portable Bluetooth speaker, front side view.
These JBL Flip 2 factory reset directions show how to restore your Flip 2 Bluetooth speaker to its default out-of-box settings. We outline the factory reset procedure for this speaker below.
So, resetting returns the Flip 2 to factory default state. And in so doing, it also wipes any earlier paired Bluetooth devices from memory. Clearing these stops the speaker from pairing to any nearby BT devices.
Also, you might factory reset to prepare the speaker for sale or re gifting, or simply, to stop it from pairing with devices you no longer wish it to pair with.
Press and hold the Power button until that button lights up and the electronic blip sound plays.
The Power button appears in the next picture, pointed at by the blue arrow.
Once pressed and released, the Power button lights up, as we see next.
The speaker makes a quick low-to-high tone blip sound when it powers on. The JBL Flip 2 is ready for factory reset after this short sound finishes.
Now the speaker may or may not pair with a device automatically. Why? Because this depends on whether there are any in-range Bluetooth devices that know about this Flip. But whether pairing occurs or not though, the factory reset works the same way, as follows.
Find the Phone and UP Volume (+) buttons. The Phone button is the one shaped as, what else, a telephone receiver. The Volume UP (+) button is on the right in the following picture,
The Flip 2 JBL then enters factory reset, as the next picture shows.
Then after a short pause, the JBL Flip 2 switches itself OFF. The Power lamp goes dark, and the speaker makes the power-down high-low tone blip sound.
Next, power on the unit again, as we detail in step 1 above.
Note that after reset, the speaker comes up in Bluetooth discovery mode.
When the Bluetooth button blinks white, the JBL Flip 2 is not currently paired. Indeed, we expect it would not pair to anything after a hard reset, even in-range devices.
This now completes the JBL Flip 2 factory reset routine. So you may now sell or gift the speaker, or pair it again with your favorite Bluetooth devices.
Again, after factory reset, the speaker no longer automatically joins with any previously paired BT device that is in range and in Bluetooth pairing mode. Thus, to restore auto pairing, you first manually pair the Flip 2 with a source device. Then after that, any time that both speaker and that device have Bluetooth turned on, and are in range of each other, pairing would automatically take place once more.
