Right side view of the JBL Flip 5 speaker.
An adequate JBL Flip 5 charger type, is a USB AC wall or car charger that supplies at least 2.4 amps at 5 volts (14 watts or more). Note that currently, JBL does not include a compatible USB charger with this speaker. So, you’ll need to either have one already or purchase one.
Also, the speaker has a USB-C charging port. So be sure to have the right USB-C cable on hand, to connect the speaker to whatever charger you decide to use.
Furthermore, the maximum current this speaker accepts is 3 amps, and this gives the fastest charging performance. But in order to get that, you’ll need a charger with a USB-C output port, rather than the USB-A style connector. So we suggest that you get a USB C charger that can deliver 15 watts (5 volts at 3 amps) for the most rapid charging.
We’ve successfully charged our JBL Flip 5 Bluetooth speaker with the chargers, listed below. Note that all these chargers feature a USB A type female connector. So, you can use an AC adapter like these to connect your speaker if you wish to use the black USB-C charging cable that comes with the JBL Flip 5. Or, if your charger only has a USB-C output port, you’ll need to get a USB-C to USB-C cable.
Now, to the suggested chargers.
This section is under construction while we get the following chargers into the shop here to test. But will mention them here along with links to more information about each one. In the meantime, this group of chargers can recharge the JBL Flip 5 at the maximum power that the speaker can take (15 watts). Plus none of these is very expensive, although for most of them, you will need a USB-C to USB-C cable to connect each charger to the speaker.
This hefty household wall charging station delivers all the current you need for charging your JBL Flip 5 speaker. It delivers full USB 2 power on each and every one of its ten output ports. This means that you won’t increase the speaker charging time when you charge more than one device on it. In fact, this charging station supplies enough juice to recharge all models in the JBL Flip line of portable Bluetooth speakers, and you can charged them all at the same time to boot. Find this useful USB accessory here at Amazon.com. We also reviewed this charging station here.
This CE Tech charging station is another beefy unit, well suited for recharging most JBL Flip speakers in the shortest time possible. This well built USB power hub is available on eBay for under thirty US dollars here. We’ve also reviewed this quad port charging system here.
This charger is available at Amazon.com. See an equivalent charger’s product page at Amazon.com, here. At less than twelve dollars, this dual port AC USB wall adapter, with its folding plug prongs, is small enough to fit in any mobile device accessory travel kit. It’s also great when you take your speaker on vacation, because it features a night light. Makes finding your way around strange hotel rooms a cinch. See our GE Jasco 2.1 Amp USB Charger, Y14 Review post for more details on this affordable and practical JBL Flip 4 USB charger solution.
Finally, some JBL speakers come with this JBL AC adapter included. We find that while this wall charger does not come with the Flip 5, it charges the speaker very well just the same. See our JBL Bluetooth Speaker USB AC Charger Adapter Specs for further details.
So, we hope this short list of compatible AC USB adapters helps you choose a suitable charger for your JBL Flip 5 Bluetooth speaker.
