Reset JBL Flip 5 Procedure

Explains reset of the  JBL Flip 5 to restore it to default settings.  Resetting erases any prior paired BT devices from memory.  Clearing these stops it from linking to any close by devices afterwards.  Also reset to get it ready for sale or re gifting. Or, just do it to stop the Flip 5 from pairing with devices you no longer have interest in.

Reset JBL Flip 5: Step by Step

1. Turn on the JBL Flip 5

Press and hold the Power button until it lights up.

Then, the Power button lights up along with the battery power scale, as we show next.  Here, since we’ve paired the 5 with Bluetooth devices before this, it does not enter Bluetooth discovery mode.  We know that because the Power button glows solid white, rather than blinking.

2. Wait for the Power Up Guitar Strum

The Flip 5 plays a rising rock guitar strum. Then it is ready for use.

3. Press the Volume UP and Play-Pause Buttons Together 

Press the Play-Pause and UP Volume buttons. The hold them in until all lamps on the buttons panel light up.

The 5 then enters reset. Note that both the Bluetooth and Power buttons light up gray white for a couple seconds.

Then after a short pause, the 5 turns off.  All the lights also go dark, and it plays the power-down guitar sound.





4. Check that Reset of the JBL Flip 5 Did Work

Next, power on the 5 again, as described in step 1 above.

Now this time, after reset, the JBL Flip 5 comes up in Bluetooth pairing mode.  Note that the Pairing button blinks white to denote this.  When the   Pairing button flashes, this means that the 5 has no currently pairing.  Indeed, we expect it not to auto pair to anything after reset.

5. Done with the Reset JBL Flip 5 Procedure !

Resetting is now complete.  You may now pack up the 5 for sale, or connect it again with your favorite devices.  The unit will no longer automatically pair with any device.  So to restore automatic pairing, manually pair the 5 with a tablet or phone.  Then, any time that both it that device have Bluetooth turned on, auto pairing with automatically take place once more.
