JBL Flip 5 Charger Watt – Ratings for the Best Chargers

An adequate JBL Flip 5 charger can deliver at least 14 watts or more. Note though that currently, JBL does not include a charger with the Flip 5.  So, you’ll need to either have one already or buy one. The JBL Flip 5 charger watt rating is what the Flip 5 needs for fastest charging. Thus, chargers that meet this requirement are what you want.

Also, the Flip 5 has a USB-C charging port. So be sure to have the right USB-C cable on hand, to connect to whatever charger you decide to use. In fact, the Flip 5 comes with a USB-A to USB-C cord.

JBL Flip 5 Charger Watt: The Rating

Furthermore, the maximum current Flip 5 accepts is 3 amps, for fastest charging.  But to get that, you’ll need a charger with a USB-C output port, rather than the USB-A style connector.  So we suggest that you get a USB C charger that can deliver 15 watts (5 volts at 3 amps). Anything bigger though, will not charge the Flip 5 any faster than this.

The Flip 5 does not recognize QC 3.0, QC 4+, or USB-C PD charging protocols however. While it does charge from chargers that support these, you’ll still just get the normal charging speed. So no 50 percent charge in 30 minutes.  In fact, these charging technologies all rely on the ability to deliver more than 15 watts as they fast charge.  The QC 4+ protocol can charge at up to 100 watts rate in fact. But since the Flip 5 doesn’t accept any more than 15 watts, it cannot take full advantage of these chargers.
